Difference Vegetation Index (DVI)

Description¶

The Difference Vegetation Index (DVI) is a simple vegetation index used to assess vegetation presence and density by calculating the difference between the reflectance values of the near-infrared (NIR) and red spectral bands. Since healthy vegetation strongly reflects NIR light while absorbing red light, higher DVI values indicate denser or healthier vegetation, while lower values suggest sparse or stressed vegetation.
