VBET Valley Bottoms
Description¶
The Valley Bottom Extraction Tool (VBET) identifies and delineates valley bottoms—landforms adjacent to rivers and streams that are shaped by fluvial processes. These valley bottoms are classified into elevated and low-lying types based on relative topography and hydrologic connectivity. Low-lying valley bottoms are typically more frequently inundated and have a stronger interaction with the active channel, while elevated valley bottoms may experience less frequent flooding. VBET products support geomorphic and ecological assessments and are useful for floodplain restoration, habitat evaluation, and river corridor planning.
